Can We Just Be Christians?
I read an article on christian hedonism recently. I've heard the phrase before and the article was explaining what it was. I'm not going to link to it as I think it encourages something that sounds good, but misses the point of our faith. I'm wary of any worldly philosophy that suddenly becomes okay because we place the word christian in front of it.
A Christian is what I am. Just like my name, that's with a capital first letter. I don't put my name as an adjective in front of just any old thing. It is holy and sacred to me, so I am selective in its use and the way others use it. When proper words are used in lowercase ways they are devalued and become impotent.
Christians are followers of Christ. We are called so after our Lord Jesus and our religion is based on His teachings and commands. Instead of trying to incorporate worldly philosophies into our faith, can we just be Christians?
