Bible Study

If you ask people what the Bible is about, you'll probably get one of the following answers:

It's about God.

It's about Jesus.

It's about Israel.

It's about the Gospel.

It's about how to go to heaven.

All of these answers are true. The Bible is about all of those things, but it's also about YOU. Throughout the pages of the scriptures, you are interwoven in the narrative of God. “How is that?” you may be wondering. The Bible is not just a history book about what God did way back then. It is His holy, living and active word that does not return void (Hebrews 4:12Isaiah 55:11). Holy Spirit is the Author of the Bible, and He isn't just speaking to you through the human authors, He's speaking about you. Genesis 1:26-27 is expressly about you.

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

These verses don't just tell you about the first people, Adam and Eve, they tell you about your genesis as well. You are made in God's image and likeness, just as they were. You were made with a purpose, just as they were. The same purpose actually, to have dominion over the earth and to be fruitful and multiply (v. 28).

Let's look at another passage. John 17 is a prayer that Jesus prayed for YOU before He went to the cross. He says in v. 20, “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word.” “Those who will believe in me through their word” is any believer who has heard the Gospel because it is their testimony of Jesus we have received through the Bible, i.e. YOU.

As you read and study the Scriptures, seek to discover what God is saying about you, as well as what He is saying to you. I promise you'll be amazed at what you find.
